Theory

A Commercial Pilot License (CPL) opens the door to professional aviation, allowing you to earn a living by flying. The process involves rigorous training, advanced theoretical knowledge, and practical skills development.

Aircraft Technical & General
The theoretical exams are structured to be straightforward, focusing on equipping pilots with the knowledge necessary for safe and enjoyable recreational flying.
Practical
To obtain your CPL, you must pass a practical skills test in advanced flying, conducted by a Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)-approved flight examiner.
- Flight Time Requirements
- Complete a minimum of 200 flight hours, which must include:
- 100 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC).
- 10 hours PIC at night.
- 50 hours cross-country (if pursuing a CPL with Instrument Rating).
- 20 hours cross-country (if pursuing a CPL without Instrument Rating).
- 20 hours instrument flight time (up to 10 hours may be in a simulator).

Building Required Pilot-In Command Hours
Building Required Pilot-In-Command Hours
We provide cost-effective aircraft rental opportunities after hours on weekdays and during weekends, enabling you to build the necessary hours efficiently. Regular communication with our management team and flight instructors will help you maximize your learning and flying experience.
Once you’ve completed the required PIC hours and passed all theoretical exams, you’ll move into advanced training. This phase focuses on sharpening your skills and preparing you for the CPL test with a Designated Examiner.
The final step involves training on a variable-pitch, retractable-gear aircraft for Single-Engine VFR/IFR CPL certification. The CPL flight test is conducted by a South African Civil Aviation Authority Designated Examiner.
